01 / Walk, discuss and check readiness
Use with the people doing the work: walk the area, discuss the prompts, record actual controls and verify them before exposure. Rebrief when conditions change. If a safeguard is missing or uncertain, pause affected work and contact the responsible person.
Client and task agreement
Confirm the site contact, requested service, work boundary and activities outside the agreed scope. Identify who may approve changes.
People and access
Who else can enter the work area, including clients and the public? Agree barriers, access routes and communication before work begins.
Equipment and energy
Identify equipment condition and energy sources relevant to the task. Use the applicable authorized isolation or specialist procedure where required.
Products and work environment
Review chemicals, ventilation, dust, heat, manual handling and access conditions. Confirm instructions, exposure controls and required equipment.
Task readiness
Check that the assigned worker has the required instruction, authorization and tools. Refer unfamiliar or specialist work to the responsible qualified role.
Service restoration and handover
Identify required checks, the authorized return-to-service decision and the person receiving the work. Record defects and remaining restrictions clearly.
