Weekly Safety Topic – Memorial Day Safety

The first three-day weekend of summer is here! We all plan on doing lots of different activities this weekend, such as cooking, picnicking, boating, swimming, motorsports, doing housework, or just relaxing. Hope you enjoy the long weekend! Enjoy it, but be careful.

Most people associate Memorial Day weekend with the beginning of summer. The summer is perhaps the busiest season in terms of travel and activities. It is important to balance safety and risk during the summer season.

Risks can be managed by anyone if they plan, prepare, train, and use protective gear. Wear a life vest, be cautious with the lighter fluid, and climb the ladder carefully. If you’re traveling this weekend, please be extra cautious. Driving won’t be the only thing on some people’s minds when out and about. Take an extra moment to ensure that everything you do is safe. You don’t want to become another tragic statistic this weekend.

The real reason for Memorial Day is to honor the men and women who have sacrificed their lives in the service of our country. It’s also a time to reaffirm the commitment of those in uniform and those supporting them. We owe this day to our fallen heroes, and we are forever in their debt.

On Monday, May 30th, as you celebrate Memorial Day with your family and friends, please observe a moment of silence for the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 pm (1500). This moment connects all Americans as we celebrate our heroes, history, and the unconquerable pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
