Assessment and retake policy

Practice, feedback and targeted review support demonstrated learning across all five Academy schools.

Academy-wide standard · Effective 16 October 2026

This policy applies to free and paid Academy learning wherever an assessment is offered. The passing standard stays the same when you retake an assessment.

Practice decisions
Unlimited attempts with explanations. Use practice to learn before submitting an assessment.
Module quizzes
Three submitted attempts. After an unsuccessful set, revisit every lesson and mark each reviewed to unlock another set of three.
Final knowledge assessments
Three submitted attempts. After an unsuccessful set, complete targeted remediation and obtain an owner-approved reset for another set of three.
Graded capstones
An initial submission plus two revised submissions, with feedback after each review. After three unsuccessful submissions, targeted instruction and an owner-approved reset are required.
Verified technical failures
The owner may restore one affected unsuccessful attempt after checking the evidence. Original submissions and results remain in the history.

What counts as an attempt?

A completed assessment submission saved by the server counts. Viewing a lesson, saving a draft or saving answers before submission does not. If a save is unconfirmed, reopen the record before retrying; the same submitted attempt is not counted twice.

Passing requirements and feedback

Each course publishes its own passing score, critical requirements and completion conditions. Quiz feedback explains answers. A graded capstone uses the published course rubric, with criterion-level scores, evidence from the submitted work and specific revisions needed. Self-review worksheets remain practice unless a course explicitly provides a graded submission workflow.

PA-001 requires at least 80% and every included critical decision correct on its module quizzes and final. It also requires twelve accepted written assignments, every criterion at least 20/25, the published course-grade calculation and explicit owner award approval. Written revisions allow an initial submission plus two revisions, each within 14 calendar days of released feedback unless an authorized extension is recorded; no grade cap applies. Scoring appeals and accommodations use Academy support, with independent review where feasible. PA-002 requires 80% on its module quizzes and final assessment. The available PA-003 module requires 80%. JHA-001 module checks require all five answers correct; its final requires at least 24 of 30 correct and every critical decision correct. The JHA graded capstone requires at least 10/12, no criterion scored zero and no unresolved consequential error.

Review, support and records

For final-exam remediation or a technical failure, contact Academy support with the course, module, attempt time, problem and relevant evidence. Do not send passwords. The owner records completed remediation or verified technical evidence before approving a reset.

Completed coursework, prior passes and assessment history are retained. Existing submissions in the current assessment version count toward the current set. Each module has its own attempt record; an attempt in one module does not use an attempt in another. Lesson-review acknowledgements record your confirmation of review.

Current availability

The policy is enforced in the Academy’s available PA-001, PA-002, PA-003 and JHA-001 online assessments. PA-003 remains a single available module within a course in development. Planned courses across all five schools must meet this policy before their assessments open.

JHA-001 learners can save and submit a capstone portfolio for owner-recorded rubric review. Reviews may be manual or assisted by an owner-approved AI batch. Submitted text may be sent to OpenAI for an advisory review. The owner checks and releases every final grade; learner submission does not trigger AI usage. Workbook practice remains self-reviewed. The knowledge-course certificate retains its original requirements. An additional certificate with reviewed capstone requires an accepted learner portfolio, all ten current module passes and the final assessment.

Downloaded courses in another LMS

An external LMS manages its own attempts, remediation and records. Its administrator must configure and validate this policy before assigning downloaded assessments. Downloaded packages include policy setup guidance; website reset approvals do not update external LMS records.
