Policy and HOP sample

[Employer] shall provide suitable trucks, maintained equipment, protected traffic arrangements, trained operators and qualified workplace evaluation. Only employer-authorized workers may operate independently. Supervisors shall support pauses when the load, route, equipment or people separation is uncertain. HOP is part of this program. Forklift risk reflects the interaction of vehicle design, visibility, layout, pedestrian access, loads, staffing and work pressures. Do not rely solely on vigilance, horns, or a warning to “watch out.” Involve operators and pedestrians in designing practical barriers, routes and work sequences. Learn from normal work and near misses, and protect good-faith reporting. Use task previews, clear communication, selected peer checks and pauses where they help.
