Build your Safety Management System

Safety programs for the work.

Start with a useful structure. Adapt it with your workers, put the controls into practice, and keep evidence that they work.

Five programs + the master template. Each includes HOP, employer fill-ins, a requirements crosswalk, supporting forms, customization guide, use terms and a state/workforce selector. Public previews are limited samples; editable HTML packages require Safety & Systems account access.

State review is incomplete. All states and D.C. can be selected, but only selected California/North Carolina provisions and South Carolina coverage have been researched. Washington and other unresearched combinations display “review pending.” The master contains no topic-specific state review. These are development templates, not completed employer programs.

Make it your organization’s program.

  1. Confirm the activity, jurisdiction and applicable requirements.
  2. Open the online editor, complete the employer fields and select each worksite state/workforce. Save your private copy to the Program Shelf.
  3. Resolve pending state and technical reviews. Save an edited copy and obtain employer authorization.
  4. Add the adopted document and implementation evidence to your private SMS workspace. Your Program Shelf stores the completed text; your workspace records track adoption and implementation evidence.
