Use the format your job requires

A job hazard analysis (JHA) and job safety analysis (JSA) commonly organize work into steps, hazards, and controls. An activity hazard analysis (AHA) may also need a specified risk method, personnel qualifications, equipment, inspections, and acceptance process. The project’s requirements decide what the finished document must contain.

The formwork AHA walkthrough covers the additional planning fields, a referenced USACE risk matrix, and the distinction between contractor risk acceptance and contractual review under EM 385-1-1.

What good looks like

A useful analysis describes observable work, explains how harm could occur, assigns specific controls and identifies who verifies them. Each example compares weak instructions with stronger controls and asks what should change when the worksite changes.
