Construction Safety Orientation

A free introduction to jobsite hazards, PPE, Stop and Ask, chemical warnings and emergencies. Follow with the employer site walkthrough. Completion time varies; the current learner trial took about 14 minutes.

Welcome to the jobsite

Learning objective: Identify who to ask and when to pause on a new site.

Worker asks a supervisor a question during a jobsite briefing.

Construction sites change throughout the day. Crews arrive and leave, materials move, equipment operates, and work above or beside you can change the conditions around you.

You do not need to know everything on your first day. You do need to know who supervises your work, how to get help, and when to pause.

It is okay not to know. It is okay to ask.
If you are unsure, stop and ask before continuing. Pretending you know can put you and others at risk. Questions are how we learn.

Your first day

A loader is working between you and the entrance to your work area. You do not see a pedestrian route. What do you do?

The employer must provide site-specific and task-specific instruction, appropriate protections, supervision, emergency arrangements and applicable training. The supervisor worksheet supports that conversation; it does not establish qualification or workplace compliance.
