JHA planning data contribution
Notice version jha-planning-2026-10-25-v1 · October 25, 2026
Purpose and choice
This tool-based technical dataset supports research into how JHAs describe potential serious injury and fatality (SIF) exposures, planned controls, reported implemented control levels and verification. It can help improve planning resources and identify questions for later field research. It is separate from JRI Study 001 and does not enroll anyone in that study. No ethics or IRB approval is claimed for this dataset.
You can use a free signed-in account to print without contributing. Alternatively, an adult user authorized to share the selected non-identifying planning categories may choose guest participation. Choosing not to participate does not affect paid account access, saved company records or other free learning resources.
Fields retained for research
- Industry sector, actual-work/training/tool-testing context, and source learning-example reference.
- Number of tasks; selected SIF category and harm mechanism for each task.
- Planned control levels, levels reported implemented, verification category, and whether supporting verification text was supplied.
- Random contribution/revision reference, notice version, consent time and expiry.
The research record excludes your account identity, company/project identifiers, exact locations, names, signatures and written task, hazard, control and verification narratives. Your full entered draft is transmitted for print rendering but is not retained as a research document. If you separately save a company JHA, its full working record and versions are private operational records.
Limits and reporting
Selections are user reports. They do not establish that a control exists, works, is legally sufficient or prevented an injury. Print exports are not proof of actual use. Repeated identical category submissions from the same device draft are deduplicated; changed categories remain revisions, not automatically independent jobs. Users self-select, so this dataset cannot establish industry prevalence or representative employer performance. Small groups with fewer than five distinct draft references are not reported in the owner aggregate view. Removing direct identifiers reduces risk but cannot eliminate every possibility of inference from unusual combinations.
Retention and withdrawal
Individual contributions expire after 12 months. Expired records are excluded from analysis and deleted during contribution and review maintenance. Keep the private withdrawal receipt shown above your printable export. It removes the retained individual contributions for that draft; already published grouped results cannot be recalled. Losing the receipt can prevent us from locating a contribution because the research record does not contain your identity.
Research participation is never preselected. The current agreement is:
I am at least 18 and authorized to share these categories. I agree to contribute the selected industry, work/training context, source-example reference, task count, SIF classifications, planned and reported implemented control levels, and verification categories to research about JHA planning. Names, company/project identifiers, signatures, locations and my written task notes are excluded from that research record. Contributions expire after 12 months. I can withdraw using my receipt before my data are incorporated into grouped results; published grouped results cannot be recalled. I can instead sign in and print without participating.
Participants must be 18 or older and authorized to share these categories. Privacy and withdrawal questions · Return to the JHA builder
