Course requirements & records

Know what your course requires, understand your learning records, and find the next step when you need help.

Start with your course page

Review the assessment and completion information on each course page. Requirements can differ by course and learning path. Before you begin, check:

  • Which modules and activities are currently available.
  • Any prerequisites or access requirements.
  • Required quizzes, assignments, final assessments, or capstone work.
  • Passing scores, critical requirements, and any review or approval needed for completion.

Use the course catalog to find the current outline. A catalog listing does not mean enrollment is open, and an available module does not necessarily mean the full course is released.

Understand your learning records

Lesson progress

Progress shows recorded learning activity, such as lessons you have reviewed. Reviewing a lesson is a step toward completion; it is separate from passing an assessment.

Assessment results

Quiz, assignment, and final-assessment results show performance on the submitted work. Read the feedback and your course’s passing conditions to decide what to review next.

Course completion

Completion depends on all published course conditions, including any required capstone review or award approval. Where a certificate is offered, follow the course’s instructions for eligibility and access.

Lesson progress and assessment results describe your learning activity; course completion does not provide professional certification or employer authorization.

Assessments, feedback & revisions

Practice activities help you prepare. Submitted assessments and graded capstones follow the assessment and retake policy. Check that policy for attempt limits, lesson review, remediation, and technical-failure guidance.

For capstone work, use Capstone Portfolios to find the right workspace. Saving a draft is different from submitting it for review. Read released feedback and revision requests before resubmitting.

Optional assessments, certificates and purchased materials

Optional paid assessment offers include three submitted test attempts per course attempt. After a third unsuccessful attempt, restart the affected course and repeat its required learning before a fresh set of three test attempts. You do not pay again. A third-attempt pass remains a pass.

Course restarts and test failures do not remove your purchased asset, license, downloads or paid access. Your assessment history, previously earned certificates and other completed courses are retained. Online learning and practice are free. Assessments and certificates are optional purchases, with requirements and availability stated on each offer. Existing free assessments retain their published rules. See the paid-assessment restart and retained-purchase policy.

If a record looks wrong

  1. Check that you are signed into the account you used for the course.
  2. Reopen the course or student learning area and check the saved record before submitting again.
  3. If the problem remains, contact Academy support with the course and module, approximate submission time, the message shown, and what you expected to see. Do not send passwords.

If you take a downloaded course in an employer’s LMS, that LMS holds its own learning records. Ask its administrator about missing results or completion records.

Your learning calendar, deadlines & extensions

Your free learner account includes the learning calendar. Register for a course in My Learning to populate module targets and the course-completion deadline. Full-time study allows one week per required module; part-time study allows two weeks. Both use the same published learning and assessment requirements. You may finish sooner.

Plan around your available time

Choose your time zone, preferred study days, start time, and study-block length. Optional study blocks help you plan within the existing course window. Your module targets follow your registered pace; changing study preferences or an external calendar event does not change a course deadline, record attendance, or complete an assignment.

Request more time from an assignment

Each unfinished module target links to the course-extension form. The shared policy permits up to three course extensions, with each adding a full course period at the selected full-time or part-time pace. A request that meets this policy activates an extension immediately, records its confirmation, and replans the unfinished module targets. It uses one course extension, not a separate allowance for each assignment. Activate further available extensions before the current course deadline.

Written revisions use their own published assessment deadlines. In PA-001, a returned written assignment is normally due within 14 calendar days of released feedback unless an authorized extension is recorded. The calendar shows that revision deadline separately. A course extension does not change it; use the revision-extension support link for instructor review. Submitted work awaiting instructor review pauses the course-completion and inactivity clocks.

When an unfinished course is dropped

For a registration that accepts this completion policy, the current course deadline includes all extensions already granted. If the course remains incomplete when that period ends, that course enrollment is dropped and its unfinished coursework and partial progress are reset. Re-enrollment begins that course from the start. Unused extension allowances do not add time automatically.

Completed courses, awarded certificates or diplomas, and completed requirements already accepted toward a certificate program or diploma remain in the learner’s record. An unfinished requirement is not treated as earned program progress. A missed module target prompts attention or an extension request; the final course-completion deadline governs the course reset.

Existing registrations retain their earlier completion terms until the learner explicitly accepts this policy with an extension into a future course window. Publication of this policy does not retroactively erase existing course work.

Participation and reminders

Four weeks without recorded learning participation triggers a service email reminder. After another full week without participation and confirmed delivery of that reminder, an unfinished enrollment may be removed and its course progress reset. Completing a lesson, attempting an assessment, or submitting required work can record participation. Signing in, opening a page, changing study preferences, or activating an extension does not count. Completed records and work awaiting instructor review are protected.

Connect a personal or company calendar

Create a private subscription link in My Learning and add it to Google Calendar, Outlook or Microsoft 365, Apple Calendar, or another compatible calendar app. The subscribed calendar includes your learning dates and any study blocks you choose to enable. It does not give an employer access to personal appointments or publish assessment results. Company calendar settings may restrict external subscriptions.

Anyone holding your private link can read the dates it contains. Keep the link private; replace it or disconnect it in My Learning when needed. Subscription updates follow the calendar provider’s refresh schedule, so check My Learning for the current deadline. Downloading a calendar file creates a one-time snapshot that does not receive later changes.
