Jenkins Academy of Applied Technology
Assessment and retake policy
Practice, feedback and targeted review support demonstrated learning across all five Academy schools.
Academy-wide standard · Effective 16 October 2026
The passing standard stays the same when you retake an assessment. The existing free-course rules and the paid-assessment restart rule are set out separately below.
- Practice decisions
- Unlimited attempts with explanations. Use practice to learn before submitting an assessment.
- Free-course module quizzes
- Three submitted attempts. After an unsuccessful set, revisit every lesson and mark each reviewed to unlock another set of three.
- Free-course final knowledge assessments
- Three submitted attempts. After an unsuccessful set, complete targeted remediation and obtain an owner-approved reset for another set of three.
- Graded capstones
- An initial submission plus two revised submissions, with feedback after each review. After three unsuccessful submissions, targeted instruction and an owner-approved reset are required.
- Verified technical failures
- The owner may restore one affected unsuccessful attempt after checking the evidence. Original submissions and results remain in the history.
Optional paid assessments: three test attempts, then restart
An optional paid assessment offer includes three submitted test attempts per course attempt. If the third attempt is unsuccessful, restart that course from the beginning, repeat its required learning and receive a fresh set of three test attempts. Passing on the third attempt completes the test normally. A restart is included in the original purchase: no additional payment, support contact or owner approval is required.
Your purchase remains yours to use. Test failures and course restarts do not remove your purchased asset, license, downloads or paid access. You can continue using the purchased materials while repeating the course. Your assessment history, previously earned certificates, completed courses and accepted program credits are retained. Restarting one unfinished course does not reset another course. Access covers the purchased edition under its license; it does not promise future editions or updates.
Online learning and practice are free with sign up. Assessments and certificates are optional purchases; each released offer states its requirements and availability. Existing free assessments retain their published rules. A document, instructor kit or organizational LMS package is a separate purchase.
What counts as an attempt?
A completed assessment submission saved by the server counts. Viewing a lesson, saving a draft or saving answers before submission does not. If a save is unconfirmed, reopen the record before retrying; the same submitted attempt is not counted twice.
Passing requirements and feedback
Each course publishes its own passing score, critical requirements and completion conditions. Quiz feedback explains answers. A graded capstone uses the published course rubric, with criterion-level scores, evidence from the submitted work and specific revisions needed. Self-review worksheets remain practice unless a course explicitly provides a graded submission workflow.
PA-001 requires at least 80% and every included critical decision correct on its module quizzes and final. It also requires twelve accepted written assignments, every criterion at least 20/25, the published course-grade calculation and explicit owner award approval. Written revisions allow an initial submission plus two revisions, each within 14 calendar days of released feedback unless an authorized extension is recorded; no grade cap applies. Scoring appeals and accommodations use Academy support, with independent review where feasible. PA-002 requires 80% on its module quizzes and final assessment. The available PA-003 module requires 80%. JHA-001 module checks require all five answers correct; its final requires at least 24 of 30 correct and every critical decision correct. The JHA graded capstone requires at least 10/12, no criterion scored zero and no unresolved consequential error.
Review, support and records
For free-course final-exam remediation or a verified technical failure, contact Academy support with the course, module, attempt time, problem and relevant evidence. Do not send passwords. The owner records completed remediation or verified technical evidence before approving a reset.
Completed courses and earned credentials are retained. Within an active registration, prior passes and assessment history are retained. If an unfinished course enrollment is dropped under the published completion or inactivity policy, that course’s partial work and progress are reset and re-enrollment starts it over. Completed requirements already accepted toward a certificate program or diploma are preserved. See the learning calendar and completion policy. Existing submissions in the current assessment version count toward the current set. Each module has its own attempt record; an attempt in one module does not use an attempt in another. Lesson-review acknowledgements record your confirmation of review.
Current availability
The policy is enforced in the Academy’s available PA-001, PA-002, PA-003, JHA-001 and the General Occupational Safety course tracks. General Occupational Safety finals require at least 80% and every critical item correct, with targeted lesson review between attempts and three attempts per set. PA-003 remains a single available module within a course in BETA test. Courses not open for enrollment across all five schools must meet this policy before their assessments open.
JHA-001 learners can save and submit a capstone portfolio for owner-recorded rubric review. Reviews may be manual or assisted by an owner-approved AI batch. Submitted text may be sent to OpenAI for an advisory review. The owner checks and releases every final grade; learner submission does not trigger AI usage. Workbook practice remains self-reviewed. New knowledge-course certificates require all ten current module passes, the final assessment with the published passing and critical-decision requirements, and a submitted 1–5 star course rating. Every star value is accepted; written feedback is optional. Previously earned certificates are preserved. The additional certificate with reviewed capstone requires these course-completion requirements plus an accepted learner portfolio.
Downloaded courses in another LMS
An external LMS manages its own attempts, remediation and records. Its administrator must configure and validate this policy before assigning downloaded assessments. Downloaded packages include policy setup guidance; website reset approvals do not update external LMS records.

Released paid knowledge assessments
Academy learning and practice remain free. Optional released occupational knowledge assessment/certificate offers are $39.99 one time plus applicable tax, or 40 Training Credits per earned certificate through an eligible jSMS company pool. Credits are used only when a certificate is first earned and issued. Study, failed attempts and reprints use no credits. Existing subscriptions retain their recorded terms. Three submitted tests are available per course cycle. After the third unsuccessful submitted test, that unfinished course automatically restarts its learning checks and offers a fresh set of three tests. A third-test pass does not restart. Purchase access, prior assessment history, other completed courses and issued certificates remain. Duplicate requests and practice do not consume an extra attempt, and restarting never creates another payment or automatic retake fee. Existing free-course and instructor-reviewed applied-course policies continue where those offers are not released for paid completion.
